Its quite obvious from the title of this blog that I like this book!
Its one of those books that I found myself compelled to read, dispite it's enormous size and weight!
It's a tale of magic, English Magic. Magicians, Kings, prophecies, fairies( not! Fairies No gossamer wings here!), Curses , bitter rivalry, war with Napoleon and much more! Set in the England during the reign of George III , Europe, Faerie and many places in between.
I have bought this book as a present for several friends and family.
One warning though this book is huge over a 1000 pages! and is heavy!!! If I was buying it again I would by the three volume edition!
I agree with Neil Gaimen though, Like him I finsished reading it and immediately wished it was twice as long!!
Hopefully we will not have to wait the 10 years it took to write this book for the sequel!( "The Ladies of Grace Adieu" a collection of short stories by Susanna Clarke will be published in October 2006 - that should partially fill the gap)
Book's official web site
Must make more effort
To actually use this blog thingy!!... We that this years resolution! Seems like i'm getting left behind by this internet thingy!
Zodiac
In my blogger profile, blogger points out what my Star sign is.. I really find it annoying I hate zodiac's and horoscopes - they are one of the most purile things that I can think of!( them and soap tv programs)
Why can't I turn of the showing of my zodiac sign - just publishing it seems to imply that I invest some meaning in it..........
